OK, hear me out. This one is a guilty pleasure for me, and my love for this film probably has more to do with nostalgia and my affection for Garry Oldman (the man can do no wrong, and his sister was in EastEnders).

This film is a visual wonder for anyone who loves Gothic art, fashion, and storytelling. Even Keanu and Winona’s attempts at an English accent don’t take away from how beauiful this movie is.

Another reason why I love this film so much is that there is NO CGI. All effects were done during filming, not in post-production. This is a kinda magic we need to hold on to and champion!

I will absolutely be re-watching this one this holiday season, and maybe make it a double bill with Frankenstein!
