Random Post #86 - Old Character Art
Here's the second batch of the old-new character art. One thing to note: The original six girls were all made in the span of a week. These, on the other hand, were made in the last five years or so, so their quality can vary.
Here is some stuff I have to say about each of them.
-Peach is a rare case of me actually having another version where: "I liked the character idea, but didn’t like the result so I redid it from scratch". Peach is a bit of an anomaly as I didn’t really plan her to be in the game at all, but I loved her design so much that I suddenly decided that “Yes. I’ll derail the game’s updates for a few months so I can have the short evil Lene”-Turns out I was a coward and didn't make her actually evil.
-I actually have a picture of Ayla’s design I made on paper! It’s kinda old, so don’t judge it TOO much. Ayla was one of the few characters made as part of the old "suggest a character" reward we used to have, so her design is based on Tamamo from the Fate series.
-Old Cultist was made around the time I made Nihil, so she is way older than the current cultist. Like, 2~3 years apart. The current Cultist WAS made with Obscuria's design as the "standard" cultist as reference, and the old one was made before the concept of the Goddess was even a thing.
-Annabeth’s old version is leaning more towards her being a vixen/slut that you guys know she is. But... I ended up throwing that in the trash bin and going with the chubbier version that gives off more mommy vibes. Note: The old version wasn't finished so it does look... weird.
-Furry Hapi! I probably showed this one off before, but here it is! Originally, the bunny girl was going to be a semi-generic enemy that got cut, made around the time I did the shark girl and the drowner! She also, uh, had a pp. She stayed in the bench for a year or two before I went back to dealing with her. The version with the backpack was to give off more of her scavenger vibes, but she also went back to the bench before I made the dancer design a few months later. (Hapi is probably the one character I spent the most time on her design)
-The Spirit of Hatred, or Cynthia!!! Original design idea was actually pitched by a Hellena fan. The idea was actually for a high-level cultist that was hunting down the spirits instead of her being a spirit herself, but she kinda looked a bit TOO out there for a simple cultist. In the previous version, she hid her eyes as she thought her eyes made her look too freaky.
-This is the last one for now, that's the very first version of the "experiment big sis" and not necessarily the Hildegard we know today. Don't think too much about it.
Also, while I was looking for the old stuff I found a few things!
-I found a cursed doll enemy sketch! Done, but with no colors. Like, a small evil floating doll that didn’t fit anywhere in the game. (And still doesn't, sadly)
-I FOUND A DESERT NAGA I HAD MADE A LONG AGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’LL ADD HER TO THE GAME ON THE NEXT VERSION TO FILL IN FOR THE NAGA RECOLOR ON THE DESERT MAP!
-And lastly, I found a finalized art for Sophie’s cut daughter that I might share later?
It was Zehmun’s last executive order over me to cut her from the game, as she is a cute girl and not freakishly weird like Rosie, and he really hated the idea of child characters existing in the game, for uh, obvious reasons, I guess. Still, I liked the idea as it made Eris even more of an asshole and Sophie more of a mind-broken sex slave, as Eris would beat the girl up, and Sophie wouldn't know about it, as the girl didn't want to break her mom's heart! (I really went all out to make Eris hateable. The current Eris is a bit less of an asshole than initially planned)
