Development Progress Update 0.5.0.0
Hello Science Team!
First off, we've got some exciting news! Make sure you clear up your schedule this weekend because we've got a developer stream coming up. Yara, our talented Voice Director (and also the incredible voice behind one of our main characters “Silica”) will be joining us Saturday September 30th, at 4PM Eastern. We're sure you won't want to miss what she has to share!
Now, onto a sneak peek of what's coming. We've been working hard (and having a ton of fun!) on the next build. Here's what you can expect:
- Chapter 06: Dive deep into new content, from exploring Melody's apartment to soaking in an Onsen. And get ready for a preview of Virtual Little Tokyo. Trust us; this massive open-world city is something we're super stoked about.
- Sandbox V2 - Easy Mode: Playtime just got better! We're rolling out 20 new animations for you to tinker around with. Compared to V1, we're side-lining the level creation kit and amping up the scene selection for faster, smoother fun times. After leaving the Pre-Alpha Phase, Sandbox V2 will be updated with all new characters that you encounter, starting with System 32 and Blair just one chapter down the road in Chapter 07!
- And for the anime enthusiasts out there, outlines are back! We've integrated an outline shader to give you that genuine anime experience.
As a token of appreciation for your unwavering support, we're gifting all of you a specially designed wallpaper. It's our little way of saying thank you for being the best community ever:
From Helltaker's Desk:
Heyhey, Helltaker here. I thought I'd take a moment to share a bit of our behind-the-scenes journey with you. Making a game isn't always a smooth ride, and we've faced our share of bumps over the past months.
- Summer Breaks: We're firm believers in the power of rest. Our full-time team members enjoy 1-2 weeks of paid holidays each year. It's essential, and everyone deserves it. But yes, it also means a pause in our workflow.
- On the Move: Some of our team members had to relocate homes or even countries recently. We do our best to support them through such transitions, but it inevitably leads to some downtime.
- Health First: It's been a challenging few months on the health front. When one of us is out, it's felt by all. We're a tight-knit team, and one member's absence can mean a lot of work piling up. But health always comes first.
- And then there are those pesky little glitches: unexpected software updates, Discord playing hide and seek, completely stopping our ability to communicate with our team (like it did today), and other minor hiccups that remind us that technology, like us, is imperfect.
But here's the thing: every challenge makes us stronger, more resilient, and even more committed to delivering a game you'll love. Thanks for being patient and understanding. It means the world to us!
