Emerald Vale Lore
Hi there Science Team!
To cap off our Emerald Vale previews, we wanted to give you some background for this world, and some early images of the land as it is being built. For those of you who are partial to backstories in a game, we hope you enjoy this history lesson!
Emerald Vale
The Emerald Vale is a lush and sprawling forest, home to many creatures, including slimes. It was once a hidden land that contains the ruins of an ancient lost city, now known as “The Forgotten Hollow”. Adventurers discovered the dungeon and established the town of Mosswood at its entrance. Mosswood became the hub for trading the rare and valuable artifacts found within the dungeon, making it a prosperous trade center. Despite the danger, adventurers continue to explore the forgotten hollow, driven by the promise of riches and the thrill of adventure.
MossWood
MossWood, a bustling and vibrant town nestled in the heart of the Emerald Vale, was once teeming with adventurers and traders alike. The town was a renowned hub for trading ancient and wondrous artifacts found in the nearby dungeon known as the Forgotten Hollow.
Adventurers from all corners of the land would flock to the dungeon to explore its twisting passageways and hidden chambers, seeking out the priceless treasures that lay hidden within. These adventurers would return to MossWood with their spoils, where they would trade them with the local Adventurers Guild.
The Adventurers Guild would then trade these artifacts with the Merchant Guild, who would then sell them to traders and collectors who had traveled from far and wide to acquire these rare and one-of-a-kind artifacts.
For many years, MossWood thrived as a center of trade and adventure. Its bustling markets and lively taverns were filled with people from all walks of life, and its streets were alive with the sound of commerce and adventure.
However, as time passed, the Forgotten Hollow grew more dangerous, and fewer and fewer adventurers returned from their expeditions. The flow of artifacts slowed, and with it, MossWood's fortunes began to decline.
The Forgotten Hollow - Dungeon
The Forgotten Hollow is a vast underground dungeon that was once the home of an advanced civilization. It is now inhabited by monsters and has become a destination for adventurers seeking to explore its depths.
What little is known about the lost civilization that once lived within the hollow is that they were highly skilled in the use of magic and created many powerful artifacts. These artifacts are highly sought after by those who understand their value, and the treasures that can be found within the hollow have become a source of great wealth for adventurers who brave its dangers.
Despite the riches that can be found within the hollow, the reason for the collapse of the lost civilization remains a mystery. Some believe that a magical experiment went horribly wrong, causing the downfall of the civilization. Others speculate that the civilization left on a great journey to transcend to a new world, leaving their city behind.
Despite the many theories surrounding the fate of the lost civilization, one thing is certain: the forgotten hollow remains a dangerous and unpredictable place, full of hidden treasures and deadly traps. Only the bravest and most skilled adventurers dare to explore its depths in search of the artifacts that lie hidden within its ancient ruins.
The Emerald Corruption Incident
Project Pandora, a new type of V weapon, was created using the core of a virus queen, but was deemed too unstable and ordered to be sent to a containment facility near the Emerald Vale.
However, the transport truck crashed and the sword's containment field was broken during an attack by local wildlife. These wildlife then got infected with corruption. The last surviving crew member, Carlos, used the sword to defeat the corrupted wildlife knowing it was the only way to prevent another outbreak. Realizing he was becoming corrupted from using the sword, Carlos took the sword deep into a cave to prevent another outbreak. He used the sword to cause a cave in, sealing himself and the sword away.
Unfortunately one corrupted slime got away unknown to Carlos from the containment breach in time The Corruption began, overwhelming the land and leading to the loss of Mosswood and nearby settlements.
Unable to locate the sword and the source of the corruption, Virtual little Tokyo permanently sealed off travel to The Emerald Vale and the extent of the outbreak remains largely unknown to the public eye.
