The Savior Bridge

The bridge itself was a reminder of a hastily built structure that, in all unlikelihood, stood the test of time. In a desperate attempt to escape the razed lands behind them, the denizens of Volkhelm escaped across the Horned Channel on this floating bridge of logs, interwtined branches and rope made from the pliable bark of the Bending Woods.

After the negotiations of peace, and with the threat against the nation at behind them, the Volkhelmians returned home across that same bridge. Now, a temporary structure built in haste has become a historical landmark of the perseverance of the people in the darkest of times.

Even now, a generation later, the bridge still stands due to the tradition of Gaordi Bru, the festive day of Bridge Building. Families gather for the pilgrimage to cross the bridge, and tend to it by replacing the aging rope and bindings with fresh, stable bindings to honor the memory of the simple creation that saved so many. May it stand the test of time for generations to come.
