Kim - Scene 1.7 - Keys & Blocking

After much preproduction and planning ✏️ we finally started the production phase!

For this first production shot, I'm showing you the Blocking that helps me previsualize the general movement in order to know how many frames it'll take to look natural and solve other stuff like the arcs, rotations, etc. I did not feel the need to do anything in 3D for this one since it's a close-up and there are not many connected moving parts so it was all directly drawn based on reference.

After that, I made the first key (which is mostly based on the animatic with some tweaks) and then transformed it around and added some extra lines to create the rest of the frames.

Everything feels very stiff at the moment, but with this foundation, I can start working on those secondary actions, deformations, and breakdowns that will make it all feel more lively and juicy! I'll be showing that in the next post.

It feels good to get back into animation action! And I hope you are as excited as us to see how every shot we designed comes alive
