Game Design Shenanigans

I put on my game designer hat and pitched an idea to the team. Since we want to offer more repeatable content to players when we reach a steam release, we have to sit down now and think about what it could look like. As always, you have to find a vision for the future first, so you are informed on what to work on now

My background in game design is limited, but I had over a year of hardcore bootcamp personal mentorship in it, so I tried my best to use what I've learned during that time. It was still hard, and since I'm not as good with words as I am with images, I just painted a comic :D 

No worries, I won't repeat my whole TED talk here. Basically, the pitch tries to achieve the goals I listed at the top, which allow for a fun gameplay experience that can be repeated indefinitely, while staying fresh. To keep coding to a minimum and to enable the team to focus on getting the lewdness into the game, I wanted this base structure to work with more than just one job in Neon City. The second game design comic shows how the structure can be applied to another job that feels and plays differently nonetheless. 

I was super happy that the team grasped the design immediately and added lots of cool ideas and valuable input. Bear made a prototype that we're gonna test some more now - because no amount of planning helps, if the gameplay itself isn't engaging.

Vacation Doodles

Now that the actual gameplay in the glowing hole is more defined, creative ideas come more naturally to me. So during the Christmas holidays, I sketched some rather unholy things~

Cutout Shading

Finalized the rest of the cutouts and added some reusable effects that add that "doujin" feeling to it.

Next Zoey CG

Made a sketch for the next requested CG with Zoey in the Glowing Hole. Will she be corrupted enough to expose her ass to a random stranger, just for a slightly better tip?~

Bear requested even more squish on her butt, so I iterated:

Lineart and animation prep

Bunny Suit Variation

Made a variation of the bunny suit with the cups being pulled down. I wonder what will happen in-game to make this happen huehue (no seriously, I have no idea how it will be implemented, I'm excited to find out!)

Less made a Christmas piece then edited it for posting, you can already find it on Twitter & Bsky

Nox:

A small update here for the bathrooms:

I managed to finish up all the tiles, main assets (and their lights) for the backroom. Another small note is I made the assets in darker values, closer to the original hotel set.

 I've been drawing dudes for so long, so I drew cute Zoey first to keep my passion, fun of work.

 Zanzo made us SFW trailers for the brand new TCNN chapter! You can even watch it on YouTube.

Juno:

 I took some time further experimenting with the broken hologram shader graph, which has become a bit of a mess in the process, but most things I wanted are now kind of working. This will help us with lighting up the city more even in the more grungy areas:

BlauKoneko:

 Was working on an easier way for it to adjust the already equipped stuff so that things aren't equipped that end up breaking or don't fit with previously equipped items. So far it goes as far as changing to other versions of the same outfit such as the Female & Femboy versions. Neato.

 We got colors!

 Also, this is what it looks like to put together a character from the start so far.

Bearcore:

 When you use a mouse to move around, Zoey will now only move if you are not hovering an interactable. This means that she won't jolt forwards when you just wanna click on something to interact with it anymore

Besides that, I’m in full swing, writing lots of quite lewd dialogue within the bartending content! It will feature Rosie, Klaudia, Nova and some new characters, who won’t be receiving portraits.

Rosie will be guiding Zoey in between the interactions with customers, who are not always the nicest.

I hope to be able to include many lewd fullscreen animated scenes in this content, but we’ll see how fast we can produce them.

Vils:

 Doors can now use save data provided by the room generators, this means they won't endlessly create junk data in the save file when new layouts are generated. In this example, the red rooms have a locked door which I can unlock, and it saves properly, then when I create a new layout, the data gets thrown out since it's no longer ever going to be needed.

and now fsm savekeys work with room data too
