Fallen Unity (Fuck Unity)
As you all know, the recent announcements that Unity made has completed shattered the industry’s trust in them. That includes us here at Anduo Games. We’re done with the nickel and dimeing they’ve been doing since their IPO, and this was the final straw. In response to this, we did a 4 day long gamejam to break the ice and start learning how to develop in Unreal Engine 5. The results of that gamejam can be found here:

We learnt a ton about the engine from this gamejam and it’s become significantly less intimidating for us to develop with Unreal Engine as years-long Unity developers. With that said, we won’t be moving Third Crisis or Rosas are Red over to Unreal Engine 5 because they are both about 90% complete and in their final stretches. TC:R and any future expansions made in TC’s RPG framework will also be sticking with Unity. Thankfully Unity has woken up and realized they can’t rip the rug out from everyone who developed games under a different TOS. They changed their silly policy so that only Unity 2024 will be affected by the install-fees, so we just won’t update to 2024 so that both TC and RaR stay unaffected. Problem solved.
While we’ll of course continue developing both games to their full releases and continue supporting them afterward, the general feeling at the studio is that we’re pretty done with Unity. UE5 is way more fun to develop in anyways, which is I guess what happens when you invest in the engine instead of investing in ad companies.
Combat Changes
The theme for me with TC’s last health update has been combat changes aimed at making fights more enjoyable and balanced. To that end, I’ve implemented the ability to pan the camera around during your turn so you can have much more situational awareness and make informed decisions.
I’ve also completely rebalanced how energy works, so now movement no longer requires energy, and you’ll only recharge one energy per turn instead of both energies in order to temper the added aggression that everyone will gain from this change. Jenna also now has two energy just like everyone else. The reason why Jenna had three energy was so that she could be more aggressive while still sticking to our ‘movement costs energy’ system. With that system gone, everyone in the party should start feeling as impactful and aggressive as Jenna was.
TL;DR
- Third Crisis and Rosas are Red are staying on Unity.
- Third Crisis is getting big combat changes next release.

Hey ya, Desva here. I fixed a few animations that broke due to the engine update. Some got reimported and only portions got renamed only the unity gods know. For example, the facial expressions got renamed that’s why in certain scenes you had all expressions displayed at all times. So I had to set the sorting order for them manually and add a script that doesn’t change the sorting order on play. I also checked every animation state in the CGs that broke cuz I had to relink the targeted sprites in the animation.
Then I implemented the updated Jewel scene and put a finishing touch on the dominatrix scene that will be available through the job board. I also left it open to continue in case we want to expand on that. (this won’t be a full fledge route with an ending)
I fixed a bunch of spelling errors and prepared some things for the final chapter of the game. Till next time ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).

Rosas Are Red
Vils:
Rosas are (almost) Released
With Erokin 0.2.0 almost out the door, bear and I are going to be moving our full attention over to Rosas are Red for one final release sprint. The dialogue is 99% done and we only need a little bit more art to be completed for the new dialogue. With those out of the way, it’s just final polish, adding a credits screen, and implementing new game plus.
At the moment our current plan is that the sprint will take about two weeks to get the game finished, we’ll do a soft launch to you lovely patrons, and then we’ll focus on a big marketing push for Steam so that RaR will get the big release it deserves after all these years. All in all, we’re looking at about a month away from final Steam release, though game development loves to be unpredictable, so don’t quote me on that.

Heya gamers! I’ve been working on all sorts of bugs and little features to get RaR ready for the steam release! I’ve got the silly ads in, as well as fixing voice messages, hiding the replies when scrolling and am working on some dialogue fixes. Also got the steam page updated!
