Anduo Report - December 15th, 2022
We're back after a short hiatus! Welcome back to the Anduo Report! Vils here with the lewds for the week!
Status
RaR has been making a bit of progress in terms of the three final endings. Right now we've completed one and a half of the three final endings needed. The second ending is currently in progress and the main gimmick of it will be a final sex scene where you'll tell Rosa all the different things you'd like to do with/to her!

"So much has been done on Erokin since I showed it last time in the devlog video! We have a much more solid understanding of how exactly Unity's hdrp lighting works and how to trick it into doing exactly what we want."
"In this screenshot you can see the advancements pretty well. The lights are influencing the volumetric fog, causing the lovely visible light beams. We kinda roughly knew how this worked before, but now we are able to use these techniques much more reliably. Also we can now do much more nuanced fog effects, for example on the standing lamp on the left side of the picture. You can see that the lamp cage blocks the light, which also changes the volumetric scattering in the fog. We now have a way of more or less baking those effects. Historically, shadow effects like this were quite expensive. While our "baked" solution will not be able to change during runtime, it still looks much better than without any shadows."
"In the screenshot, you can also see our new fabric rendering quite well. The red velvet fabric surrounding the scene looks awesome and it's the result of a bunch of research into how exactly unity hdrp's physically based rendering stack works. We're super happy with the results we're currently getting! Besides that, we also learned about transmission, which is light travelling through a surface. We are using it here to show a sex scene without really showing it, which I think is pretty cool!"
"Besides leaps and bounds in the area of lighting and shading, we also made massive steps on animations. Here's a test of a full on sex scene with most of the systems in place:"
"I was thinking it'd be cool to have some sort of interaction, since we're making a 3d game and all! So I implemented the camera swaying around as you move the mouse. To be fair, that's pretty minimal interaction, I get that, but it's a start. I'd love to have the sex scene be interactive, making them more than simple animation viewers. I also don't want that interaction to be done through UI. Something like WASD still moving the character a bit, playing different animations, maybe resisting or something like that? It'd be cool to contextualize sex scenes through player input somehow.. I'm not quite sure how to do it yet..."
"Alda received a whole suite of new animations. Her new walk and run animations are SO GOOD! It took a bunch of iteration to get here, but I'm finally really really happy with it. There's still a few small clipping and tiny oddities to figure out, but I mean, look at it!"

"The new animations come with lots of secondary motion on the outfit and facial expressions. Also, the cloak is now using dynamic cloth physics in unity! MF3D (https://twitter.com/_MF3D) has done an amazing job!"
"The elven slave girls are also getting a massive amount of animations by Nerada (https://www.artstation.com/phoebegonight), much more than shown here. Lots of idle animations, as well as walk cycles!"
"Besides those animations, the first sex scene between 2 elven slaves orchestrated by the church for entertainment is also finished! We might need to add something more to it, so that it's a bit less repetitive. Orochi (https://twitter.com/oro_sh1ft) has done an awesome job on it and it really adds life to the whole scene!"

"Moving on to models and texturing, we have finally figured out how to use a texturing method called detail mapping. The idea is that instead of wrapping a texture around a mesh once, you take a tiling texture and repeat it over and over to have super high detail density. We will use this for skin pores:"
"Usually textures, even in 4k, don't have enough pixels to do detail like this. Obviously, this is a rather small change in visuals, but it breaks up the light reflection on the skin so nicely. And of course when we have close ups with sex scenes, this will be quite visible!"
"Next up, a masterpiece in 3d modelling from JuggerDown (https://www.artstation.com/juggerdown). He is working on the catgirl mesh. The quality of the mesh and the texture is absolutely insane. Have a look:"
"The cat girl guard captain will look absolutely amazing. There are still some adjustments on the face, hair and ears happening, but the outfit should be done. I mean.. Look at it. It's incredible."

"Hello there, I implemented the new lighting system in the entirety of Sublevel 1 and the fiend hub, so the level looks and feels a bit more cave man like."

"Then I worked on 2 new combat areas making them more challenging but not unfair. I tried to find a good balance between challenging and fun. For the second area I put in another faction that will help the player in the combat sequence."

"And lastly I fixed a bunch of bugs for example the issue with the Mine and Shower shortcut that could cause the player to walk out of the player boundary in the mine level."

"This week I focused on QoL improvements to some parts of the game that needed them. Take the Skip Turn button for instance. I know we've all accidentally skipped a turn or two."
"Now that'll be a problem of the past! The Skip Turn button now requires you to hold it down for a second before skipping your turn. No more misclicks!"
"While I was adding some more outfits to the game, I got annoyed with being unable to get a good look at them before buying. So I went ahead and put together some new UI that will help with that!"

"On the juicy side, we have a CG for the Peitho route that just finished its art pass and is now ready to be animated!"
"And also another CG that finished its art pass featuring Rida and Floria!"
"And finally on the narrative side, we're just finishing up the last few bits of dialogue & cutscene for Rida's mission and then it'll be complete for the next release. After that, we'll be looking at Floria's mission, which will be the last one before the finale mission of the main story (oooh)! We're getting close to finally completing this beast, which is both exciting and frightening. It's gonna be a hell of a ride."
