They never actually say what Lillian Test does for a living, only eluding to her being a 'businesswoman'.  Given that her husband is stay-at-home father and that she more than likely (solely) flips the bill for all of her daughter's high-tech science gear, she's probably high-level management.  Something high stress like corporate finance or business insurance.  Who knows?
