Little Willy | Page 156, 157, 158 | Sketch

And, so, our look into Cody's and Willy's story comes to an end! It was great fun to write and draw, and I'm real pumped to tackle another big comic project after a short break (and after my move is done)!

Both boys have had their separate character arcs. Willy is slowly unlearning his defensiveness and trauma response; Cody is coming to terms with who he is and what he likes. Both will keep growing with each other, and learning, and loving

The significance of Willy's art and his relationship to it is a background element that I wanted to emphasize here at the end. In page 18 Willy is very dismissive of modern painting because he refuses to see the painting in any context except for its technique. It's the sort of reductionist response he has towards a lot of things in life. By the end of his arc, he's able to appreciate that the context in which a painting is done lends it emotional significance; when he looks at the splatter painting that he and Cody have done, it is meaningful to him

I don't want to write too many gay trauma stories. Willy and Cody encapsulate the best of what I was trying to do with Jesse and Aaron, and I can give that part of a me a rest for awhile

Thanks for all your love and support! As always, I big appreciate you!
