Our heros are both together and conscious at last!
There's been a lot of setup for both of them, and seeing how they act alone should help give the reader a foothold to understand the complex relationship they have when they're together – which we are jumping into the middle of!
Roshim is outwardly stoic, but has a lot of concerns about his own strength, how he is perceived to be strong, and how he is using it. He's revealed some vulnerabilities with Leily and Jolan and shown himself to be thoughtful
Avalon is outwardly quite carefree, especially if you go back and read his speech in page 1-2, but he has a bit of an edge to him; his deal isn't very clear yet, but he's been established as dangerous
