(Blog)縦構図と横構図 Horizontal and Vertical Layouts

最近画像生成にばかり意識が行って見せ方にこだわれていない気がしたので、たまには過去投稿の制作意図のブログを書いてみます。

pixivアプリなどスマホで、しゃしゃっと下にスワイプして最短3秒程度で閲覧される想定で作りました。

以下それぞれポイントごとにまとめました。

・AIの強みを活かす

画像生成AIの強みのひとつとして、似たような印象のイラストを大量生成しやすいことがあると思っています。手書きでいいじゃん、とならないようAIの強みを活かすことを意識していました。

短時間で似たような印象のイラストをざっくりと大量に見てもらうことで、ひとつの印象を獲得してもらい、それを裏切ることでインパクトを出したいと考えていました。

横構図の非エロ8枚をざっくりと見てもらい、縦構図のエロ1枚でギャップを生むような構成を目指しました。

・縦構図と横構図

一般的に横構図は客観的な画を、縦構図は主観的な画を演出しやすいといいます。

ぼやーっと見るとき人間の視界は横長の長方形で（客観的）、集中してその一部を切り取ったものが縦長の長方形（主観的）みたいなイメージです。人間が縦長なので、人間だけを見せるなら縦長、背景も含めて表現するなら横長が向いていたりもします。

非エロは横構図で客観的に情報量多めに見せ、エロは縦構図で主観的にまるで自分が夢中になって吸い寄せられているような印象を見せようとしました。

縦構図と横構図の参考（参考になってるか…？）

・スマホの特徴

スマホ向けというと縦長にするイメージがあるかもしれませんが、今回はスマホ向けを意識して横長の画像を増やしています。スマホ画面は縦長なので、横構図であれば1画面でたくさん見ることができます。短時間で大量にざっくりと閲覧してもらうことへの意識もあり、横構図を多めにしています。

また、アプリからだと下の画像が途中で見切れるため、下へのスワイプを自然に促す効果も期待しました。

最短3秒としたのは自分で試したところ飽きない時間がこれくらいだったためです。

・スマホとAIイラストの相性

スマホは以下の3つの点で私のAIイラスト閲覧に適していると感じています。

①スマホは指でしゃっしゃとスワイプして直感的に大量消費ができるので、枚数が多いAIイラストと相性がいいと思っています。似たような印象のイラストも多いので気軽にスワイプして見てください。

②画面が小さいので、画素数の低さが気になりにくいことも良い点です。

私のAIイラストは画素数を低めにしています。投稿スピードを担保するためや大量ゆえ読み込みストレスをかけないためなど理由は様々です。

③引き続き画面の小ささによるものですが、スマホで見ると大画面で見るよりAI特有の粗が目立ちにくいです。

よく手がAIの弱点と言われますが、私は気にならなければ指が4本だろうと6本だろうとどうでもいいと思っています。綺麗な手が見たいわけじゃないし。手以外にもAI特有の粗があるのですが、スマホで見る分には気にならないことが多いと思っています。

あと手軽に見てほしいとかいろいろスマホ向けな理由はあるのですが、当然PCでがっつりしっかり見てくれるのもありがたいです。

FANBOXもスマホアプリ出してくれたらいいのに…

Patreonはスマホアプリがあり、個人的には結構好きです。Patreonで見てくださってる方はスマホアプリおすすめします。

・ギャップ

つらつらといろいろ書きましたが、ようは見せたかったのはギャップであり裏切りのインパクトです。少しでもどきっとしてもらえたらいいなと思っています。

pixivは1枚目がサムネになるので、たくさん見てもらおうとどうしても1枚目にエロを持ってきたくなりがちです（最近の自分）。

・おわりにと今後のお知らせ

冒頭にも書いたように最近はあまり考えて投稿できていなかったので、戒めも込めてブログにしました。

Recently, I've been focusing on image generation so much that I feel like I haven't been paying enough attention to presentation. So, I thought I'd occasionally write a blog about the intention behind some of my previous posts.

"Misty in the City"

I created it with the intention that it would be viewed on a smartphone using the Pixiv app, and be quickly swiped through in about 3 seconds. I've summarized each of the points I focused on below.

・Capitalizing on the Strengths of AI

One of the strengths of image-generating AI, I believe, is its ability to generate a large number of illustrations that convey a similar impression. I've made an effort to utilize this strength so the response wouldn't just be, "Why not hand draw it?"

I wanted to make an impact by presenting a large number of similar illustrations in a short amount of time, establishing an impression, and then defying it.

I aimed to have you view the eight non-explicit horizontal illustrations casually and then be surprised by the explicit vertical illustration.

・Horizontal and Vertical Layouts

Generally, horizontal layouts are said to easily portray an objective view, while vertical layouts can easily convey a subjective one. When we glance around, our field of vision is a horizontal rectangle (objective), and when we focus on something, it's like we're cropping out a vertical rectangle (subjective). Considering that humans are vertically oriented, a vertical layout is suitable for showcasing a person, while a horizontal layout is suited for including the background.

I tried to present a lot of information objectively in the horizontal, non-explicit illustrations and create a feeling of being personally absorbed in the vertical, explicit illustration.

・Characteristics of Smartphones

Although you might think vertical images are ideal for smartphones, I've increased the number of horizontal images for this project, keeping smartphone users in mind. A smartphone screen is vertical, so you can see a lot at once with a horizontal layout.

I also considered the desire to casually browse a large number of images in a short amount of time, so I increased the number of horizontal layouts.

Furthermore, in an app, the image at the bottom gets cut off halfway, which I expected would naturally encourage swiping down.

The reason I went for the shortest 3 seconds is that I found this to be the amount of time where I didn't get bored during my own tests.

・Compatibility between Smartphones and AI Illustrations

I think smartphones are suitable for viewing my AI illustrations for three reasons:

①You can quickly swipe through a large number of images on a smartphone, making it compatible with AI illustrations, which are often similar and numerous. So, feel free to casually swipe and view them.

②The smaller screen makes the lower pixel count less noticeable, which is beneficial.

I keep the pixel count low in my AI illustrations. The reasons for this are varied, including ensuring faster upload speeds and minimizing loading stress due to the large quantity of images.

③The small screen also makes the roughness characteristic of AI less noticeable. People often say that hands are a weak point for AI, but I think as long as it's not bothersome, whether the hand has four or six fingers doesn't matter. It's not like you're looking for beautiful hands. There are other rough parts unique to AI, but I think they are often not noticeable when viewing on a smartphone.

While I do want you to easily view my works and have several reasons for catering to smartphone users, I also appreciate it when you take the time to view my works thoroughly on a PC. I wish FANBOX would release a smartphone app... I personally like the Patreon app, which is available on smartphones, and recommend it to those who are viewing on Patreon.

・Contrast

After writing all this, what I really wanted to show was the impact of betrayal through contrast. On Pixiv, the first image becomes the thumbnail, so I often feel like I want to put an explicit image first to get more views (something I've been doing lately). But I want to consider the viewer's experience more and make proper posts. I'll work on it.

・In Conclusion and Announcements for the Future

As I mentioned at the beginning, I've been posting without thinking much recently, so I wrote this blog as a form of self-discipline. I don't want all my blogs to be so serious... I want to write cheerful and fun blogs.
