DLC development update #12

Hello orcs!

I'm cuming to talk about the advancement of the DLC!

This month I've spent a lot of time testing the DLC levels, and improving the combat system. I've removed the combat step where you had to choose an attack as in the old combat system, but also overhauled a large part of the UI and animations. We've replaced Robin's heat bar with hearts. Hearts work just like in mini-games: if you make a mistake, you lose hearts. The more powerful the enemy you face, the more hearts you lose with each mistake. We've also added an experience system that allows you to increase your number of hearts, but only if you lose the game (as in Hades). Initially, there were 31 battles in all to complete the adventure, but we're thinking of lowering this figure to 25 to give you a better feel for the difficulty gap, and to keep only the most interesting battles and dialogues.

I've finished integrating the characters into all the backgrounds, modified some of them, and completely redesigned the game's final boss (you can see his minion in the gallery!)... but I've still got a bit of work to do to finalize everything.


I've spent too much time on testing and I'm behind on creating the last assets. I'm a bit nervous about the announced release date, because I'd like us to have time to do all the testing we can, whether it's to rebalance the game or to see how well it works on android. The release may be pushed back a few weeks. I'll do my best to meet the date, and if I can't, I'll have done the best I can. In any case, a demo of the DLC will be available!
