Shading Ania's beauty.
The Contax-Zeiss Sonnar T* 85mm f2.8 I was using on Ania during this shooting (and many others), is the smaller brother of the new Zeiss T* 1,4/85mm Planar ZF, named "Martin" after the generous Patron that contributed to its purchase.
The Sonnar design is simpler and less expensive, but still capable of great results, as you can see in this photo.
In Consonno I realized that this Sonnar badly needed a lens hood to avoid flares.
The Planar design is superior, but still can't do without this important accessory, actually, it is even more important to preserve the higher quality of the Planar.
As I'm using "Martin" on a medium format camera, with a larger sensor than it was designed for, the original lens hood for the Zeiss lens is vignetting, so I had to select a shorter one, that stays out of the way, but manages to shield most of the unwanted light from creeping inside the lens.
Under this porch, there is no need for a lens hood, because it is the porch itself to act as a huge lens shade, letting the Sonnar do its work in the best way, with the beautiful colors, the nice blur in the background and the ideal micro contrast in the black and white version.
And also Ania can shine in all of her beauty for our eyes to enjoy.
