Legends of Baba-Set [SNEAK PREVIEW]
Years ago, when I wrote and drew the comic Brides of Baba-Set , it was the longest and most sophisticated comic I'd ever attempted -- about 55 pages. For some reason, Baba-Set was a hit with my readers, and many of you have reached out asking for more of that character, including some backstory/lore fill-in with his time among the ancient Greek pantheon.
I fully intended to start a prequel comic featuring Aphrodite, Athena and the other Greek gods -- I even produced character designs and the promotional image attached above (with a date of 2022!). But life and other projects got in the way, and this one (like many others) fell by the wayside.
But even though the project was shelved, I always had the same image in my mind for how I wanted it to start. Aphrodite, gazing into some sort of mystical pool of vision, like a pensieve or a palantir, to see one of her temples being defiled, her priestesses kidnapped and enslaved -- and realizing that the dread god Baba-Set was attempting to displace her and steal her influence and powers for himself. I outlined this basic story in my "Legends of Baba-Set" pin-up as well, which I posted here on Patreon months ago.
I admit, the project always felt a little too big. But now, I've got some major projects under my belt. The last Bang My Bully was over 160 pages long. I knocked out the action-packed Conquest vs. Supergirl in about two weeks. And X-Academy: Bimbofied is full of some of the most complete and consistent interiors and backgrounds I've ever done in a comic. So I feel more comfortable returning to the project now. In fact, I'm very excited, as this Aphrodite design was always one of my favorites and I was itching to draw her more.
So here are a couple pages to get you interested. I hope to have more to share very soon.
