An update on my previous post; feedback appreciated
NOTE: This is NOT a real schedule. This is just an example of what the format of any given month could look like going forward.
This is an update to my previous post,
First off. Thank you all for your understanding. The poll on the previous post was very informative; not just that people would leave/but why. And of course, I hear you all! So I completely understand everyone’s personal reasons why they couldn’t continue.
Second. While I will let the poll ride, your comments and responses to my previous video has allowed me to come to you all with a schedule proposal.
Right now, I currently react to I think 18 bg and gg variety shows. ALONE. I can’t even count how many non idol variety and drama.
Before our Patreon was simple. We reacted to 4 groups of bg and 4 groups of gg. 2 dramas and that was it.
This schedule is exactly that with a little more.
Think of it like this:
$10 Patrons will get 24 bg&gg variety reactions + LP access (minimum 1 a month; pd’s choice) + bonus drops at least 10 per month = this is minimum 35 videos or more per month.
Assume that this is roughly (30 ~ 40hrs of content)
$15 will get all the above + 3 anime reactions + 2 drama reactions
Minimum = 40 videos (45 ~ 54hrs of content)
$20 Patrons will get all the above + one month early access to all anime & drama club + variety bonus show a month (current: Sixth Sense) + 3 episodes of a non kdrama/SURVIVAL SHOWN(alternating)
Minimum = 44 videos (52 ~ 61hrs of content)
Most notably, I basically cut my idol variety workload in half and cut non idol variety down to one bonus a month. These variety are SO long we can’t do more than one a month.
While I did cut my idol variety by half, this is what I used to put out. And somehow over the past 2 years I’ve doubled my workload but my income didn’t double.
That means I fucked up.
And frankly MANY of you called it and said “don’t overwork yourself” but two years ago I used to be OK with that. But two years ago was the middle of a pandemic.
Third. My additional proposal is doing alternating months. One month we do a full schedule (the one I proposed above) and the next month I do a reduced schedule (instead of 4 weeks I do 1).
Why? These break months will genuinely give me time to take a break or take meetings or catch up on YT etc. And I will alternate EVERY month. Which means this will allow you all to plan your finances accordingly.
For those of you who have a little extra pocket change, or those of you who want to keep supporting me regardless of content amount, your patronage will help keep us afloat that month while I do other work stuff in Korea. For those of you who have financial restraints, you can PAUSE that month or lower your patronage tier, and then resume or reup the next month and you’ll have an extra week’s worth of content!
I will still do the bulk drop system. Only one artist focus a day.
And also a few specific rules:
-I’m only reacting to variety shows of groups I want to. Whom I listed above are the current groups I want to stick with (and ENOclock but maybe a different month and trade them in)
-I’m only reacting to YT variety content. I will only make exceptions for shows and groups I really trust (IN THE SOOP, etc).
-I will not always react to survival shows they’re physically daunting. IF I do them, I will alternate it with the Autumn tier exclusive non Kdrama. I would just like the option there.
-I will no longer react to variety content for groups I don’t regularly want to watch (this means scheduled idol variety. I will check them out in bonus drops) So I will check out only one off content from groups I like or even like a lot, or don’t know much about in bonus drops—that’s it.
-For now I am limiting listening parties to 1 a month. I will slowly reintroduce more over time but my god I need a break. It is not humanly OK to listen to this much music and react so extreme!
-I used to have a rule of not releasing on weekends so I have a healthy work life balance and then I started posting on weekends and it messed me up. I am no longer posting on weekends and I ask you all to make sure I never get too excited and do that again!
Note:
-Xs on the calendar mean no releases
-“YT” means I am dedicating that day to filming and recording YT content. Patreon will get first dibs that day that means.
Summary.
OK so remember I haven’t made ANY hard decisions yet. Just brainstorming out loud.
I know I’ve made some very hard cuts and very hard rules. But I’m not regretful of the cuts because this is still a lot and also the amountI used to put out while still making the same amount of money. And I think 40hrs of content is good deal for $10!
I’ve also broken down exactly how many videos and how many hours of content you can expect with your patronage every month. Calculate if all that amount of content for each tier is going to be worth it for you.
And the rules are in place so that I NEVER overwork or overpromise again.
I think if I keep the schedule like this and if I stick to these rules, I can have a health relationship with my work here on Patreon again.
As for this week’s content, I’m going to take this week off. I’m sorry but until I get all the feedback and settle this in my heart, I cannot bring myself to film because it’s worsening my mental state atm.
I will have this week’s content out on the 20th and 21st. My birthday is on the 19th so consider this a birthday wish of mine. Please allow me another week to get this all sorted. I apologize again for my mental health being at the center of content delay. I promise once I go to Korea I will get this all sorted.
I look forward to your guys’ feedback and will make a decision next week.
