A new addition to the overall release schedule
Hey,
I've decided to start doing short monthly loops to fill the wait a bit, and to have some content in between projects, so it'll feel a bit less like paying for nothing during the between months. Each of these will be similar to around 1-3 looping shots in Diminishment combined. I'll call these "mini-loops".
The first mini-loop is currently rendering (regular 4K first, VR after), as instead of working on the mini-animation during the past few days, as I was supposed to be, I ended up doing this instead (Sorry! I'll try to get the mini-animation PB out before the end of the coming week!). There's a playblast of the mini-loop on discord, as well as a couple renders included on this post, to show you how it'll roughly look, when finished. I'll post the mini-loop playblasts under the 1$ tier.
January clip will likely also feature Clara, probably with a mouth shot for that one. Ideally in the future, I'd like to feature characters not included in the current main project, but I'm limiting myself to Clara for now, as she's the only one that's 100% up to date both in looks and her control rig.
Note that while this particular mini-loop is POV, it does not necessarily mean that I am limiting myself to only POV clips!
--- Potential questions about the mini-loops ---
Will these mini-loops affect the schedule for the longer releases?
It's very likely they'll have some impact. I estimate the work load for one to be roughly half a playblast, and hopefully it'll get faster down the line. I'll try it out for a few months at first, and if it seems people don't enjoy them, and most don't think they're worth the time investment, I'll reconsider this addition.
How will these new mini-loops be distributed?
**NOTE: **The below only concerns the monthly mini-loops! Final versions of proper projects (Anything over 1 minute long, so mini-animations and above) will still adhere to the regular tier reward list! I'll update the tier descriptions to include these of course. Longer clips are also likely to only have 1080p regular videos, and any VR versions of those are likely limited to 4K, due to render times of longer videos, but it'll be case by case, as especially VR benefits a lot from resolution increases even up to 8K. VR Videos will all be 180 degree in the future, due to the much better image quality, compared to the minor benefit of being able to see behind you in a 360 video, at a massive cost of perceived resolution. Basically a 4K 180 clips is roughly comparable to a 8K 360 clip, when it comes to perceived image quality in VR.
Free:
- 720p 30fps mini-loops (Twitter/PH, Free MEGA Gallery Folder)
- 1440p 60fps VR mini-loops (Free MEGA Gallery Folder)
1$ tier:
- around 1-3 full resolution still shots from each mini-loop, (both VR & non-VR)
- mini-loop WIP playblasts
5$ tier:
- 1080p 60fps mini-loops
10$ tier:
- 4K 60fps mini-loops, no watermark
- At least 4K 60fps VR mini-loops, no watermark (possibly up to 7K, but scene dependent on whether the render times are manageable, so I won't promise anything over 4K)
That's all for now!
The regular 4K mini-loop render should be out roughly in a week. I'll mostly only render these while sleeping, so they'll take a few days to come out.
Playblast of the AV mini-animation should be out next weekend. Again, sorry for the delay.
