This Alone in the Dark 2 Playthrough Is Your Christmas Present
Hello gangers,
With Christmas coming up, I'm reminded of my favorite Christmas game: Alone in the Dark 2. And that got me thinking about one of my back-burner videos about the AITD games and their history and influence. I've been writing it here and there for ages, and when I actually make it I'll need footage from all the games, which means I have to record them. And hey, I'm still trapped in America and don't have much else to do for Christmas other than indulge in my nostalgia, so why not?
And then I thought 'why don't we narrate the playthrough as we go, so I can do something with the footage right now too?' And a long Saturday (of fun!) later, here we are. An entire Alone in the Dark 2 Let's Play in one long sitting.
It's about four and a half hours (cut down from about 6 hrs 20 minutes of mostly running around in a hedge maze, and trying to figure out how to kill a pirate with a stuffed bear). I hope it serves a sort of chill old-school Let's Play vibe. Recording it was a nice little Christmas break from working on the main video, and I figured it might be nice to give you something to tide you over while we finished up.
Let me know if you found this interesting or want more stuff like this. When we make videos about games I record a lot of footage for them, and it wouldn't be too hard to record that footage while commentating and put it out for patrons. In fact I'm often recording with my mic running anyway in case I say something worth putting in the video anyway.
The Adobe video is progressing nicely by the way! The real core stuff, the central 'this is why the world is broken' thesis has kept improving as we continue to find new ways the issue connects to the wider world, and it's really exciting to work on, and I can't wait to share it with you soon!
Merry xmas (if you can even say that any more),
Harry (and Kat)
