The proud thegn Bjornulf Hagrundsson has long been a beloved leader, known throughout the land for his hospitality and fairness. His longhouse has been a place of refuge for his subjects, where weary travelers and villagers alike could rest their heads under his protection. However, a shadow has recently fallen over his hall. Two of his guests have mysteriously died in their sleep, only to reappear days later as restless ghosts, haunting the very spots where they perished. Panic has gripped the people of Hagrundholm, with whispers of a curse spreading like wildfire. Fearful of the growing threat, the villagers are on the brink of rebellion, and some have even threatened to burn down Bjornulf’s home to rid the land of the supposed curse.

The turmoil has caught the attention of King Sigvardr the Stern, who now questions Bjornulf’s ability to maintain order. Rumors have reached the king’s ear that the thegn’s lands might be cursed, and in his impatience, Sigvardr has threatened to strip Bjornulf of his title and grant his lands to his ambitious cousin, Ragnar Kolvardsson. With his people on the verge of revolt and the king losing faith, Bjornulf turns to the adventurers for help. Is his longhouse truly cursed, or is something far more sinister at work? The fate of Hagrundholm rests in the balance, and only by uncovering the truth can the land be saved from unrest and ruin.

This Fifth Edition adventure is designed for three to five 4th-level characters.
