Monday Milestones: Week of June 17th, 2024

BEEEEEEEEG batch of info this week. Everyone is grinding to get our Steam page launch ready, more sandbox goodness, and optimizing the builds~


The team's game plans:

  • Jellody locomotion finished

  • Sillica locomotion

  • Unarmed combat animation

  • Trailer editing

  • working on an announcement (soon tm)

  • facial intents rework

  • future ocd content

  • assisting in character fixes

  • fixing bugs

  • Debugging

  • Reference reduction (going over scripts and removing hard references to make sure that things aren't loaded into memory that doesn't need to be loaded into memory.)

  • AI work (Mass AI character should be less wobbly in movement and have better directional rotation now.)

  • Debugging for performance improvement and remaining bugs created after 5.4 upgrade

  • Learning more about debugging tools for more efficient debugging process and finding sources of issues

  • Mass AI pathing for citizen NPCs

  • Procedural sound for plaps and friction

  • Procedural animation:

    • implemented fake physics

    • added extra projection to make the penetration less clunky

    • tweaks on IKrig

  • UI:

    • Binded a lot of callbacks from the manager

    • fixed the animation loop generator

    • scene error feedback

    • Updated the keyboard hints

  • Sandbox scene:

    • The animation can be changed at runtime

    • the location can be updated at runtime

    • the calculations to validate the location have been optimized.

  • Optimization! already reduced our memory footprint by at least 2K

  • Optimization! Reducing Overall Draw Calls, Reducing Actor Count, Merging Materials into singular base materials / material instances

  • lighting update (still ongoing, learning how to use the new "EV" light values

  • yet another sky update (mistakes were made but it looks even better now)

  • continue fixing issues resulting from the engine update

  • preparing for steam page release :3

  • preparing game for the end of the month build update

  • preparing a secret little mini game release for soonTM

  • working on a music system with the help of one of our freelancers

  • continue to update the new game website

  • many overlaps with Shallteir this week xD
