Joyful・Joyful.
I’ve been drawing a lot of a Saint Bernard beastman character recently, named Joyful・Joyful.
I still don’t really know exactly what kind of person he is yet,
but I feel like he’s someone who expresses “I love you” a lot — that’s the kind of warmth I sense when I draw him.
It’s been such a joy to work on him.
I’m sharing here a slightly higher-resolution version than the one I posted on Twitter,
along with my little message, haha.

If the feelings we put into letters or other things can cross time and reach tomorrow,
then I wonder if emotions like “happiness” or “love” will stay there forever.
If that’s the case, I’d like to preserve those feelings —
the moments of joy, the words “I love you” —
before they waver or fade away,
in the form of pictures or words.

I want to tell you “I love you” over and over again, so many times.
You’re so dear to me, and if I could hold you tight in a hug, I’d be happy

You know, I think I might cause you a lot of trouble,
but… is it okay if I keep loving you?
I just want to hold you tight in my arms.

It hurts, it makes me happy, and I just love you —
I’m in love with you.

This is my love letter.
I’ll keep shouting “I love you” over and over, even if it’s clumsy.

If I could meet you… if we could talk,
just that alone would make me so happy, so full of joy,
my tail would start wagging on its own.
I love you.
If you can tell the one you love, “I love you,”
what a truly happy thing that must be.
When their “I love you” comes back to you,
the whole world blurs.

I want to see you, touch you, hold you, kiss you…!
I love you, I adore you so much.
When I hug you tight, I only want you more.

I love your voice — it makes me happy just to hear it.
Each and every word from you felt like a gentle caress on my cheek,
bringing me that kind of happiness.

Every time I think of you, a light glows deep inside my chest.
When I call your name, it feels warm.

Yet I shed tears over this unfulfilled love,
gripping the feelings left behind and letting them fade away.
“Farewell is the only thing life gives.”
