Zuigers van drijfstangen demonteren
Ha mensen! Vandaag hebben we de zuigers van de drijfstangen van de BMP motor gedemonteerd. Verder hebben we ook de planning gemaakt met DSP wanneer de motor gaan monteren.
Quick English summary; We disassembled the pistons of the conrods today. The conrod can move freely, but the rod has been pressed in the piston. We made a special tool for the Type 69 engine, but we can get the guide bushings from the piston pins. So we can't use this tool. Because the pistons are made of aluminum and we no longer need them, I decided to see if I can remove them by heating. Aluminum expands easily and more than steel. I checked the temperature during the heating process and it turns out that slightly above 100 degrees Celsius is enough to get the pins moving free. When all 6 have been done we can see some contamination or light corrosion on some of the pins. I have 4 extra rods which came from the seized engine, so we disassemble these as well so we can choose which one to use. We did a discovery when removing the other pistons. It turns out these don't have a press fit and the pins can be pushed out without force or heating. These pistons have a different design and also don't have flat surfaces on the sides for a press tool. The new pistons have the same design and the pins can be assembled without force. We're thinking about putting the old pistons in our webshop, because these will make nice ashtrays. Casper of DSP, the engine repair facility, visited us to make a plan for when we're going to assemble the engine. We're going there within a few weeks and assembling the entire engine in their workshop. When finished, we will fit it in their testing bench to run in and see if it's good.
