Adapting to new equipment.

The arrival of a new camera is always traumatic in some respects, and stimulating in others.
The Sony A7 (this shooting of Martina happened in that period) was disappointing in many ways, as it feels like a toy, compared to the Leica M240 and the Nikon D810 I had been using before for my project.
On the other hand, it has been a revelation, because it proved to me that a mirrorless camera was the way to go if I wanted to extract the most from any classical manual focus lens, like my beloved Leica Summicron-M 90mm (used for this photo).

The Panasonic Lumix S1 that came after, immediately felt right, I just started using it as an extension of my body, the files were very good also, and it is still the best camera I have in most respects.

The Leica SL2-S was a step back in many ways, I'd say it was the opposite of the Sony, with a solid professional body that was a pleasure to use, but with some inexcusable flaws for me, like the stabilization only for some focal lengths, and the ISO increments in full stops.
The file quality was another big disappointment, with weird colors and poor high ISO performances.
And yet, the SL2-S became my main camera for a long time.

And now I have the Fujifilm GFX 50S II.
It has a uninspiring but professional body, and bad electronic viewfinder that is a pain to use for manual focus, But when you open the files in Lightroom, you're going to forget every flaw of the camera.
Excellent colors (especially skin colors), great malleability of the raw files, and medium format 50MP quality.
It is taking me some time to master this new camera, there is a lot to learn and adjust to, but I'm getting there, tuning in, selecting the right lenses...

I only wish I could have Martina to practice with this new camera body!
I'm working on that, also...
