GAME PROGRESS REPORT - JULY (3072 AD)

Hey folks,

It's time for a new game progress report.

Disclaimer: I'm posting these to be transparent on game development and show progress done. However, it goes without saying that some of the stuff you see here may be considered to be spoilers. Although I do my best to keep the big narrative points out (and believe me, there is a lot I would like to show, but that I'm leaving out for you to find and experience in game).



A little note first,

I had some dental problem on the left side of my jaw, so had to make a few visits to my local dentist about ten days ago. To control an infection, I had a wisdom tooth removed and a root canal done .

I was hoping that with some painkillers, I would be able to just "power through" the recovery period and get work done.

But I was in a LOT of pain.
 This extreme pain made me lose about five days of work this month.

I honestly tried to minimize the lost time in recovering from this, but the pain was just too much even with the painkillers.

So I made the judgement call for game dev:

To use my "free weekend time" that I usually allcatae to work on "Squeal Little piggy" side project, to instead make up for the lost time that I needed for 3072 AD.

Some work was still done on Squeal Little Piggy (New sprites and a scene), but not enough to warrant mentioning it in this month's dev log.

So this Dev update will focus on the bulk of the work done for the 3072AD patch.

I will find a way to make up for Squeal little piggy this coming month, and I intend to take a short break from 3072 AD of a month or two, once the next big 3072AD patch is out for everyone. So that I can focus on getting the Squeal little piggy playable done soon.

With that said, here is the update on 3072AD:




- [3072 AD] New animated sprite: DRONE MAG -

Note: These are heavy spoilers, especially if you haven't played the last available patch yet. So read and look at your discretion.

As I explained in the last dev update, the three new (and final) "Sub ash mini-games" are done and ready. to use So this month it was time to put the scenarios and dialog together to lead to Barb's next trials and her game overs.

So the first order of business was to make some new sprites for Mag, since one of the different scenarios involves her as one of Barb's drones. (If you made the correct decisions to lead up to this outcome.)

This includes an update on her vacuum display unit. Her being on her knees, her in the drone suit and her kneeling to let Barb use her as her new favorite chair. (More on that later).

- [3072 AD] New animation sequence -

This was teased in a dev update three months ago.

A small animated image sequence of Mag being used as Barb's new "chair" has been put together. I may need to make some minor adjustments to the speeds of the animation, but the work is done.

- [3072 AD] NEW SCENARIOS -

With these done, it was time to write the script. And code it into the game.

The sequence of events here will play differently depending on the choices made. (Three differences).

Each leads to the player going through the final phase of barbs trials, which will decide what type of drone she will become.

Areas that were "off-limits" to Sub Ash when she was a "guest" are now explorable. Where she can interact with characters, etc...

Though she is no longer allowed to leave Barb's level at that point (You are in fact locked on the path of a game over, no matter what.)

- Conclusion -


Despite the lost time because of my dental problems, I managed to get the planned work done for 3072 AD, but at the expense of some lost dev time on Squeal little piggy to make it work.

For 3072 AD, 80 percent of the script and scenes are done and implemented. Which leaves just the game over scenes. It would be tempting to release the patch without the game-overs section done, but I want this next patch to be "the full package". So I'm going to get these game overs done now, and once they are also implemented into the game, patch time.
We're getting in the final stretch of a patch release for 3072 AD.

For Squeal Little Piggy. I'll do my best to make up the lost time this coming August. And as I explained, once the next 3072AD patch is released (which is getting close), I'll take a one to two months break from 3072AD to allocate a lot of work on Squeal Little Piggy and then return to the regular schedule work load.
