Perpetual Devotion - Beast Image

So, gather round kids, and let me tell you a tale… nah don’t worry, I won’t write a short novel about this piece, but I will go into a bit below partly to vent and also so you know where I’m at with this one.

So, as many of you will likely already know, I’m quite a big FF fan and have a certain fondness for FF7, so of course I was all over the remake and then the second instalment that was released earlier this year. That said, I could have done without the mountain of side quests, and that coupled with how busy things have been lately meant that I only finished the story just before the start of this month, so I decided that, to celebrate, I’d do Barret & Cloud (from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth) as this month’s Beast pic!! ??

(Next 2 paragraphs TLDR: “Procreate!!!!” shakes fist)

Now, here’s where this tale takes a turn. A couple of weeks ago I had reached a light sketch stage - I knew how I wanted them to look, but wasn’t quite at the stage where I had WIPs that I felt were ready to release. Last week, when I picked up the Beast pic again, I wasn’t in a great place (it was a pretty rough couple of days actually) and I only later found out I had been dealing with some form of food poisoning. In spite of this, I pushed through and at the end of the day, despite how bad I was feeling physically, I was super happy with myself and with the work I had done. I was adding 2 final lines to Barret’s butt, when Procreate suddenly closed. I opened it back up to find that my file had not just lost everything I had done that week, but seemed to have erased part of what I had done the first week also.

This almost NEVER happens with Procreate - I do recall it happened to me once in the past but after a few mins the file had reappeared… I was not so fortunate this time.

I put my iPad away, tried to keep myself calm and proceeded to check the file for the rest of the evening and the next day. I’m sure many of you have gone through similar situations where hours of work is suddenly missing, corrupted or lost… and it’s such a horrible feeling, especially when you’re feeling every second of that work you put in.

The only thing I can think that could have caused this is a recent patch that was released that many people have reported errors with. It’s also one more mark against them for me lately - I’ve always been such a big supporter of the app, but the lack of any major update for about 5 years now is really taking a toll, so that might be something I have to address again… for now though, I just wanted to paint that picture for you all so you know where I’m at with this one.

Obviously I have that voice in the back of my mind wondering how it would look if I hadn’t lost the first version I was so happy with (even if they are probably very close) but that being said, I am actually quite happy with the end result here.

You’ll of course find some variants with different backgrounds, different lighting/finishes, ‘sticker’ versions (transparent background) and 3 versions of each (Full, Barret focus & Cloud focus) and of course these are in both HD & 4K versions, and also come with all the other usuals (Timelapses, Workfiles, Pallettes etc.)!! ?
