Updates for Sept 22
So, big update today, first off being that I’m going to do a bit of rebranding here.
When I started this Patreon, my hope was that folks who were interested in the Cassettone Two would be cool with paying to be "let in" on the status and process of the build and release plans, etc.
Lately I’ve been hearing on social media that folks find this to be off-putting and “scammy”. I get it.
I hate that that’s the case, and a barrier for people to continue to follow the project.
So my thinking is this: starting immediately I’ll lower the price of the “Cassettone Updates” tier to $3 and rename it “Cassettone Backers”.
I’ll still be posting exclusive updates here about the Cassttone, but they won’t be gated off to only paying members.
This tier is for all the awesome folks who want to support the development of the Cassettone Two, which is going to help greatly to get these produced faster.
I know this is a change from my initial intent for this tier, so let me know if you have concerns, or are happy to keep backing the project.
So now, the main creative push for The Sound of Machines Patreon that I’ll use to drive subs will be for the growing library of downloads including sample packs, session files, and effect racks for Ableton.
The funds from this tier also go towards funding the Cassettone Two, but I won’t use that in the messaging just to make things less confusing.
My plan is to focus on delivering a regular schedule of new sounds for this tier, and it’ll be named “Download Library” tier or something like that.
I’m going to revive my series called “Let’s Hear How This Sounds”, but focus heavily on using these sample packs.
Basically, these shows work by suggesting random samples and effects that I then build a song with.
The hope is that seeing the process helps kick some ideas loose and motivate you to try new things with your own projects.
These shows will be free to view, but the sounds, project files, and other effect racks that I build in Ableton will only be made available to paying members.
So that’s the big branding update I wanted to cover in the description for this post. Watch the video for the Cassettone Two build updates!
See you soon.
