...about fifteen minutes later, she was lying with her head on Martin's chest while the young man stroked her hair. She was wearing a T-shirt that Martin had lent her (which was obviously too big for her, looking almost like a dress,) and was completely relaxed.

"I love you, Tiff" Martin declared, as naturally as if he were just putting into words something that everyone had long known – which was technically true –, and Tiffany's response came out so easily that she didn't even have to think about it.

"I love you, too" she said, just before falling asleep with a smile on her face.
