A few words about Mandrill/Spider-Girls
Hey gang,
As many of you know, one of the first big projects I teased here on the new Patreon was a Mandrill vs. Spider-Girls comic, which would feature the maniacal man-ape going up against Mary Jane, Black Cat, and Spider-Gwen.
It's obviously been slow going, and I've tried to be forthright about my difficulties making significant progress on the comic. My plan was to devote a lot of time to it in November. Instead, I wound up doing a series of 15 color pin-ups based on Disney characters, and had a ton of fun in the process.
I hope that contradiction will help illustrate to you the issue I'm having with motivation on the Mandrill/Spider-Girls project. As much as I would like to continue it, and as much as I know many of you are eagerly awaiting it... I would rather work on other things in the weeks and months ahead. Having this hanging over my head is a bummer.
I wish I could say I could just go in and hammer it out... but after months of trying, I've realized I need to put Spider-Girls on permanent hiatus and move on to other projects.
Here's where the project stands now:
22 pages are fully inked. With some shading and dialogue, I would be able to get these up to a standard I'd feel comfortable posting, and they could work as a "Part 1," in case I ever do feel like going back and completing the chapter (which could happen).
The remaining 50-some pages exist in rough sketch quality. I can make all of these available in the XXL Tier Mega Folder, for those who want to see.
If anyone has any other questions, I'd be happy to try to answer them in the comments.
Thanks for your understanding. I know this was a very popular and highly anticipated chapter for many of you. I hate disappointing anyone. But I think with this off my docket, I'll be able to focus on more diverse and fulfilling projects which you'll also love – new Repecki, new Submission Agenda, new Mothership, etc, etc, etc.
Best,
Pegasus
