MARCH REWARDS 8

If ya wanna follow me on other sites or help me survive by  sending money or buying merch, here's ways to access my other content! linktr.ee/darkmastern ---------------------------------------------------------------- DrZock I'm also curious about Underside wildlife, especially aquatic life. Are there large bodies of water in the Underside? What are they like? Where did they come from? What lives in them? Are they edible? Do settlements of kids form near bodies of water as a source of food, or do they avoid them as dangerous hazards? I imagine just about anything could be lurking down there... ---------------------------------------------------------------- The Underside is home to many strange vistas and sprawling lands. The Candy wastes, a seemingly endless plain of candy and desserts which many creatures call home, The bedlands, a sprawling land of bedsheets and beds, forming oceans of linen and mountains of pillows, or the Toylands, a seeming junkyard where toys rain from the skies and animate playthings clash with one another over territory. However one thing that the underside seems to be almost completely devoid of, is water.   There are no naturally occurring bodies of water in the entirety of the underside, with all lakes, seas, and oceans being made of other substances such as cola, syrup, milk, or lemonade. Because of this, many of the children who find themselves in this hellish landscape, won’t realize this fact until they become dehydrated, and often times it’s already too late. Bottles of water that slip into the underside from people’s beds, or brought by children who fall there, but those are few and far between.   The only naturally occurring locations are from the various recreations of human objects such as fountains and toilets that can be found through the underside in vague facsimiles of buildings, such as fountains, toilets, or sinks, though those are often times empty themselves or also produce a strange liquid instead, or more often, nothing at all. Only through classic survival methods, can children procure the necessary water to drink and keep alive in the underside. On occasion tea pots in the land of milk and honey may possess water, though the water is often times boiling.   During the night it can still get fairly cold in some areas of the underside, and condensation still pools at night and frost can form and be collected as water through survivalist methods. Most children do not know this information, and rely on found water, or substitutes such as the ice found in naturally generating snowcones, or just general ice forming in the colder regions if they are lucky enough to be near one. Some children have learned from teens, other children whom have lived here for long periods, or from Bugaboo how to collect enough water to survive, though many die of dehydration and lack of nutrition. The best types of drink to keep hydrated in the underside are milk, sports drinks, juice, and herbal teas which can be found in various areas of the Underside. Water Is a commodity in extremely high demand, and only very well off Kid settlements or Bugaboo settlements with facilities to mass collect water have regular access to it.   Kids in the underside often bathe in milk, or use found wet wipes and other similar objects to clean themselves, but because of this, children are often times very sticky. On occasion, strange creatures in the Underside may be able to generate water, and those that do are usually dangerous, but if one risks it, they may find something very valuable indeed.   Though there are no bodies of water, there are many “Aquatic” creatures in the various liquid seas, lakes, and rivers through the underside as depicted here.   Near the bottom, we see Gummi Fish. These fish work much like a typical bass, karp, or other usual river or lake dwelling fish, though they are made entirely of a gummi material. Similar to the sweedish fish candies of the world or Gummi Bears, these fish are somewhat translucent and come in various flavors and sizes. They react like normal fish, and bite at bait placed on hooks and cast into the bodies of liquid to be reeled in. Gummi fish can be found in cola, milk, juice, syrup, and some other liquids across the underside, breathing it as if it were water for a normal fish. Gummi fish aren’t dangerous, and are often fished for sport by kids and Bugaboo alike, and eaten due to having a bit of nutritious value. The inside of the Gummi fish is like a normal fish, though their meat is jelly like and thick. It tastes like a strange amalgamation of fish and fruit flavored gummi of various flavors based on color, and while it is still mostly a candy, It seems to contain some protein, and due to the filtration systems in their gills they occasionally possess a belly full of a flavored water of sorts that is drinkable. Though not outwardly malicious like other gummi creatures or just in general like many creatures of the underside, they will nip at things in the water if hungry enough, and some unfortunate children have met an end from several Gummi fish swarming them and accidentally preventing them from coming up for air. In some child settlements, Gummi fish are bred for various types of flavored gummi meat, and for their Gummi caviar which are gummi flavored orbs that have a texture and consistency akin to the toy known as Orbees. Some kids have even trained Gummi fish to be useful companions There are variations in some places with teeth, and though they are not often violent and dangerous, they can give quite a bite to unfortunate kids who may dip their feet into a cola river to cool off.   To the left is a Slungabunga, A large, slug like creature with a wide, sharp toothed mouth, black eyes at the end of lengthy stalks, a long sharp proboscis, and undulating pipes along it’s back and sides.   Slungabunga, also known as Syrup Slugs, Slungas, or big slugs, are unique aquatic creatures that live in various liquids across the Underside. Each one is attuned to a specific liquid, usually based on what they were born in, and produce various chemicals and materials from the large pore like tubes on their back to transmute other liquids into their preferred environment. For instance, this one is a Cola Slungabunga, and as such it’s constantly releasing a cornsyrup, sugar, carbonation, and cola flavored concentration of chemicals from it’s body and it’s likely a large number of them keeping this cola lake from going flat. Slungabunga will occasionally migrate to new locations, entering a new body of liquid and swimming through it while releasing the chemicals from it’s back. It will cause large mucus like paddies atop the lake as it does so, similar to a pudding skin, and it will slowly transmute the area into it’s beverage. It often can only do so if there are a high concentration of Slungabunga in a mass migration, or if the body of liquid is small. This is rather rare, though Slungabunga do occasionally migrate from various bodies of liquid to new ones which they can sense with their highly sensitive nose proboscis. Slungabunga will attack creatures from the surface, or eat Gummi fish or other fleshy things that fall into it’s home. Sometimes they may emerge from their lair, and hide on docks and boats by sticking to the underside and attacking it when the occupant least expects it. They can spray gouts of their chemicals from their backs to coat themselves and make themselves more swift, but they can also concentrate it and fire it as a sort of hose or geyser from it’s mouth to push or damage foes. When they attack an enemy, they will bite into them with their jagged teeth and rear back, stinging them repeatedly with their tail stinger. This injects their preferred liquid, such as soda, syrup, or milk into a creature’s veins, which can quickly cause death from a sudden massive intake of a liquid or simply from it flowing with their blood through the child’s veins. Slungabunga are hunted sometimes for their noses and eyes, which can be crafted into a helmet that allows one to see with periscopic vision, see under any liquid, and to sniff out various liquids for miles so long as the helmet is constantly fueled with the Slungabunga’s preferred environment of choice. It is said that one day, the mythical “Water Slungabunga” will be found, and it will lead the children to infinite water sources. As such some Slungabunga cults have popped up, that have children worshipping the strange beasts, and occasionally living in harmony with them. The slime chemicals they create can be used to transmute other liquids, and are used in some forms of kid alchemy, simply known as mixing. And their stingers are occasionally connected to a backpack to be able to inject enemies with various substances, and their hide can be very durable for crafting aquatic armor and scuba suits to seek out treasures beneath lakes, seas, and rivers.   To the right is a Clown Seal, or a Harlequin Seal.  Clown seals are hideous clown like creatures shaped vaguely like seals or sea lions that lurk in harbors, bays, and beaches of various liquids, most often, in milk  in the land of milk and honey, but here it’s hiding in a lake of cola. Clown Seals, like most clowns, hail from the land of milk and honey, though they can be found all across the underside. Clown seals lie in wait in the sugar sands of beaches and suddenly lunge out when someone gets too close, biting them and then dragging them into the nearby liquid environment. Their utterance sounds like a combination of a laugh, a bike horn, and a seal blended together, and it can be quite startling when one lunges at you. As with all clowns, their bite can cause Giggle Fever, which can turn the unfortunate into a chucklehead. Clown Seals are not “Intelligent” like other creatures, but possess an animal intelligence and the ablility to mimic a large number of noises, especially various clown sounds such as that of a slide whistle, honks, audience laugh tracks, and various types of laughter and giggling. They can also mimic sounds they’ve heard, and as such are known to lure people in by calling from under docks or the sand until they’re too close and get grabbed. These beasts are sometimes able to be trained by Beast Tamers and used as sentries in aquatic locations, though they are very volatile and prone to attack. Rather than purely being tamed, it isn’t uncommon for kids in a settlement near where Clown Seals are living to begin to see their existence as beneficial if they feed them often, allowing them to coexist to a degree. Bugaboo, being much larger and more imposing however, may properly train Clown Seals, and use them as hounds to seek out prey in coastal towns, though Harlequin Titans or Piroe are more likely to command such creatures. Clown Seals are mostly deadly because of their strength and bite, but if killed they are full of blubber and thick hides which can be used for crafting clothing, armor, and the blubber as a fuel source, as food and medicine, occasionally using Clown Seal blubber as a replacement for Laughing Stock used to cure Giggle Fever.    And finally In the middle is a Fuglish Angler, or a Fuglish Fisherman. These creatures appear as massively obese fish people with wide mouths, and large gums with humanoid teeth protruding beyond their lips. Some have moustaches, and they all possess fins that work as arms and legs for the fish, allowing it a semblance of human mobility. The Fuglish live beneath the waves, most often in cola and syrup rivers and lakes, and possess a strange buoyancy that allows them to walk on the underside of the water’s surface as if it were land. Because of this, they treat the surface of these bodies of water as a sturdy platform, and waddle along, making upside down homes out of materials they collect from above them, or the surface world. They can hold their breath and jump in, to breech the body of liquid and emerge from within. When doing so, they have to hold their breath, as they can’t breathe in the outside world, or they may wear scuba suits with tanks of cola to allow them to breathe properly when they explore the outside world. The Fuglish are most known however, for their upside fishing, where they use various foodstuffs they collect and cast them on fishing lines into the outside world, hoping to lure in hungry children and reel them down below with them to eat. Here we see a skeptical Victoria contemplating if the cheeseburger is something she can swipe, or if it’s a trap of some sort. The Fuglish possess a strange fae magic, that allow them to touch objects and reverse their “Aquatic gravity” which is why the boat behaves in the same way the fish does, and so does the fishing pole. This can be very dangerous for creatures grabbed by them, as it becomes difficult for those to escape from the water’s surface if they don’t understand how, and they often times drown or are caught by the Fuglish before they get a chance to run away. Though Fuglish often eat children, and other surface dwelling creatures, they occasionally do trade with these creatures for various things, and they provide inverted items to the surface dwellers who’s gravity works differently due to the Fuglish magic. This can include shoes that allow one to walk on a liquid surface, or weaponry that is unhindered by being swung or fired beneath the waves. The fuglish speak in a strange belching manner, though they can also speak various languages of man on occasion. Fuglish are very carbonated due to living in cola lakes, and as such, they can release a hideous belch at their foes. When beneath the waves, it can create a stream of bubbles to blind their foes, while on land it can create a sonic force that ruptures eardrums. This carbonation is a weakness to the Fuglish as well however as it does leave them somewhat vulnerable to excessively sharp objects or chemicals such as baking soda. Fuglish can be very dangerous creatures, however if children kill a Fuglish, their stomach can be used to aid in floatation, as well as being used to create a sort of sonic weapon, or a device to cause carbonation or eruptions within cola rivers and lakes. The skin of Fuglish is used to craft “Flipside Cola” armor, which allows them to follow the gravitational rules of the Fuglish while wearing it. Because of this it’s believed that there is an entire society of children living beneath the cola waves in a sunken city of legend, which is also called Flipside. Their meat can be consumed, and it tastes like cola marinated salmon, though some say it causes indigestion, gas, and some even say that prolonged consumption of Fuglish meat will cause the one who eats it to begin to transform into a fuglish like creature themselves…
