Sacred Spring [34x22]
Welcome back Fellow Darkish!
The view of the waterfall and the graceful, tranquil statue is strangely soothing, and the crystal-clear water seems to invite you to take a refreshing dip.
After all the trials you’ve endured, such peace almost feels… suspicious.

MAP DESCRIPTION:
Sacred Spring is a pool of pure water fed by a gentle cascade. At the foot of the falls, perpetually misted by the spray, stands the weathered statue of an ancient goddess. Even without knowing which spirit or deity it honors, you can’t shake the sense that something—or someone—is watching over and blessing this hallowed spot.
Ask around the nearby villages, and you’ll hear tales of miraculous healing powers in these waters—and stories of lost travelers who found the hidden path to the spring as if it had appeared to guide them through the forest.
Reaching the Sacred Spring isn’t difficult—if you know where to look.
Simply follow the river upstream along the beaten trail, and the falls will reveal themselves.
To draw closer to the statue, cross the natural rock bridge over the first, smaller drop and continue along the path.
This serene, timeless place will always wait here, its waters and blessings reserved for those deemed worthy.
NOTES
Sacred Spring: A seemingly peaceful battlemap, where the abundance of water can quickly turn the tide against you if not properly accounted for.
Difficult Ground: Water comes up to knee-height on Medium creatures, making almost the entire map Difficult Terrain
Flying & Aquatic Foes: Enemies comfortable in water—or able to fly—can easily outmaneuver the party.
Mystical Effects: Characters who drink or immerse themselves in the waters might gain temporary buffs or penalties, depending on their interactions with the spring’s spirits or deity.
Spiritual Wildlife: Hunting fish and other denizens of the spring risks angering the local spirits, who may manifest as vengeful spirit-beasts.
Wandering Mystics: You might encounter monks, sages, or druids meditating on the rock before the statue—either formidable challengers or powerful allies.

Welcome Back, Fellow Darkish!
A few weeks ago, our Dungeon Master introduced us to a location during our travels that felt almost identical to the Sacred Spring you see today!
We had a blast exploring that little pool, receiving delightfully ridiculous buffs, and later investigating in town the god we’d stumbled upon.
Since we didn’t have a map like that in our collection, we decided to create one—and share it with all of you!
We made sure water isn’t just eye-candy but central to combat, minimizing solid ground. It’s all too easy to be shoved into the current or fall in chasing an enemy beyond the falls, leaving you exposed to danger.
We hope you love this map as much as we do, Fellow Darkish!
We wish you great adventures and NAT20s,
The Darkest Maps Team
