12-5 Weekly Update (Year in review)

So it's about that time... I saw someone else doing this and I wanted this out of the way... It's a big two days for me, so I want all distractions out of my way... and I have zero clue what to say, so I saw another dev do a year in review... I went for it. This one will be free, because I want to showcase what people miss by not donating...

The good:

When I have kept my goals realistic, I have met them. 

The attachments. Look at that improvement, if people ask "WHY SHOULD I INVEST IN HELPING YOU, ASIA THE MAGICAL GURL", I can simply say... Look at the attachments below. See, that's with me gaining a little time to improve. Imagine me being able to be a part time dev and not just a hobbyist... What can I do then?? Also, I could take my earnings and not just survive, but also add even more parts to my PC. Be able to push my renders even more! But we will cover that more later...

Pervert City has exploded. Other devs want another dev to review their work and even with Plastic Soul, it's a learning experience seeing what others can do with their games and can make. It's educational, as well as fun doing. Imagine you want to make a platformer and the dev of A Hat in Time gives you a copy and you can learn from it..... Now you can see some of the benefit to doing PC and... 

The Mooniverse discord/The dev experience:

Man, what a blessing this has been. Getting to know and talk to, learn from and even team up somewhat... with some great fellow devs. Classy Lemon aka "Friend Lemon", Moonbox, 4MinuteWarning, Infidelisoft, Jamleng, Airell, Dagotto (who made me a logo out of the kindness of his heart AND it's something I will treasure and use for a long time!), Deep Bauhaus (who made Lilith in DAZ as fanart! WOW!), Winterfire (who's overwhelming amount of shitposting and pings can be fun and charming in it's own way), ThiccLover/Jesus Dev (who's helped moderate and organize my forum), The Historian/Grieya Archives (always with some decent ideas to help), Xouillion and his damn cat gifs. Pookie, who is always quick with a DM if she thinks I need a friend to talk to... Alboe Interactive, who helped Android gameplay exist! And so on... and so on... If you weren't named, I am just noticing how long this is getting and don't want to babble. I already am!

The bad:

Things OUTSIDE of this project. I won't elaborate much, because talking about it only brings attention to dishonest actors...

The cost of things, again kinda ties in to the above... Right now, I sit typing this out with a sore neck. It hurts to hold my head up. Physically, the things I do to keep this up are moderately unsustainable... Including the amount of INACTIVITY required to keep this project moving at a pace for growth and on the upswing. I don't say this for sympathy, but it's worth noting this.

The burden of being a solo dev. There is no one out there to promote my work for me. To do my renders, write the dialogue. This was my choice, yes. I am happy with this choice because I answer to no one. I make TMG into what I want, how I want it to be. But this ties into the above two... There's a price for it all...

The ugly:

Anything I can say here, would be sorta related to "the bad", minus...

Getting people to care about your project as much as you do and dealing with the effects of putting yourself out there and accepting some won't like that you take that chance.....

I am STILL far underachieving my hopes... Growth has been too slow.

Summary:

I couldn't ask for better dev friends. I couldn't ask for better supportive Patrons like Maria Fan, Starvessel and Bonecrushboy. I could look at the things going wrong, but alot has gone right and things are consistently trending UPWARDS even though I wish Patrons wouldn't one and done me, but that's neither here nor there..... 2024 is year of the end of Projekt Moon: Book 1.
