ARIEL

Ariel is a beloved character from Disney’s animated movie The Little Mermaid, released in 1989. Based on Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale, Ariel is a mermaid princess and the youngest daughter of King Triton, ruler of the underwater kingdom of Atlantica. Known for her vibrant red hair, adventurous spirit, and beautiful singing voice, Ariel is curious about the human world and fascinated by life above the sea.

Ariel’s character is defined by her sense of wonder, bravery, and sometimes impulsive nature. She collects human artifacts like forks and trinkets, which she stores in a hidden grotto. Despite her father’s disapproval of humans, Ariel dreams of living on land and experiencing human life. Her strong-willed personality leads her to make a deal with the sea witch, Ursula, trading her voice for legs in hopes of winning the love of Prince Eric, a human she saved from a shipwreck.

Throughout the story, Ariel faces challenges and learns valuable lessons about love, family, and sacrifice. Her journey from mermaid to human and back again demonstrates her growth and self-discovery. Her character represents themes of independence, the courage to follow one’s dreams, and the power of love and family. Ariel has since become an iconic Disney princess, loved for her bold personality and her journey to embrace her own identity.
