The BABADOOK

"If it's in a word or it's in a look; You can't get rid of the Babadook"

**spoilers ahead***

Ok, I watched this one some time ago, but I remember watching and thinking it was quite a good horror story. It had boogie man vibes and things that go bump in the night, plus a child who had a scream that could send chills down your back. It ticked all the right boxes for a horror movie that wasn't a gory hack-and-slash.
It wasn't until the end of the movie, like the last 5 mins that it hit me "OH SHIT" this went way deeper than I expected and I instantly started to cry. The movie is about grief, paranoia and how a mother and son learn to navigate the darkness of loss. As someone who has experienced loss and worked through grief and depression, this movie depicts the inner demons perfectly. It's not about getting rid of grief; it's about learning to live with monster.

On a lighter note, since the movie The Babadook has become a gay icon.? This happened because Netflix accidentally misidentified it and put it in the LGBT category. Brilliant

I'm hoping that if you read the above, you have already seen the movie, as I would hate for this to be spoiled for anyone

6.8/10 from IMDB - I don't agree with this at all. Far too low ?
98% from Rotten Tomatoes - 100% Agree with this ?
9/10 from Me
