Changes Coming to the Pinup Sticker Club!

Happy Monday, my lovely patrons!

Heads up: There’s a TL;DR version at the bottom of the post if you don’t wanna read my rambles! If you’re down for a lil’ read, though, continue on.

I’ve been doing the Pinup Sticker Club here on Patreon since February of 2023, and while it’s a lot of work to keep up, it’s also fulfilling to be able to deliver quality homemade stickers to you every month. That will not change! I’m proud of the work I do and I’m still committed to doing it. But there will be some shifting around to accommodate for some recent life changes and re-evaluating what I’m capable of with the time I currently have. Here’s what’s going on.

I’ve recently started a job as a storyboard revisionist on Adventure Time, something that was initially supposed to be a month-long freelance gig that is now going to be full-time until at least November. This is excellent news, of course, as I’ll be working more regularly for a while and jobs are scarce right now! But it’ll also keep me a great deal busier.

On the business end of things, costs have also risen a bit with envelopes, sticker vinyl, and laminate sheets (and there are rumblings that stamps are going up in price soon too, ugh). It would appear these cost increases are due to Trump’s dumpster fire tariffs. I’d raise the cost of the Pinup Sticker Club by a dollar or something if I could, but Patreon won’t let you change the price of an existing tier, you can only create a new one. It’s very goofy.

So what’s the result? I’m going to have to do something I’ve been contemplating for a while now, and that’s cutting out the Mr Sticker that comes with the larger sticker every month. Pinup Sticker Club members will still get the standard sticker and postcard each and every month like usual. The postcard is currently formatted to be a “horoscope” but that format might change just to keep things fresh. But not anytime soon, I like where it’s at right now and I’ve had people tell me they like it a bunch too! For those concerned, Mr. Sticker will still be the general mascot for the sticker club, so he's not completely dead. We here at DrewDrawsPinups love Mr. Sticker, don't we?!!

Hopefully cutting this one responsibility will give me more time to also do some more sketching for everyone here on Patreon, as I miss sharing rougher drawings and thoughts! I feel my output on Patreon isn’t too bad in the grand scheme of things, but I want this to be a place for me to share where my brain’s at and not just purely focused on the Pinup Sticker Club. Lightening the sticker load a little bit will hopefully help with that!

I understand I may lose some of you as members for this and to that I say: I get it, I’ve loved having you here, and I hope you’ll come back and join me again someday! I really appreciate all of your support!

Additional thoughts about Patreon:

-I used to do a fun little drawing challenge every Wednesday called the “Humpday Hunk” where I’d design a new pinup character from scratch. This was fun but a lot of work, and possibly a little rigid of a format. I wonder if I can implement some kind of weekly drawing “game” again to encourage more sketch output. Thoughts in the comments if you have any!

-I think I’ve only put out like…two finished illustrations this year? Not counting sticker designs, of course. I really miss finishing illustrations! I’m hoping this change will encourage more productivity there. It’s May, ya’ll. MAY. Two illustrations in five months isn’t ideal for me!

-I’ve often mentioned that I want to make more videos and that’s still true, but I haven’t yet found a way to fit it in that doesn’t take so much time and effort. I’m only one person! Maybe in time I'll find a way to be more present on-camera, because I like making videos, I think they're awfully neat.

-I stopped doing the Drew Draws Podcast, some of you may have noticed. I made four episodes and while it didn’t take too much energy to make, it was…maybe a little boring? I dunno, it seemed like the amount of people listening was in the single digits, so either people didn’t care or it wasn’t good and I don’t want to devote energy to something that’s not well received by the audience it’s intended for. Might bring it back but reformat it and try and keep it more on-topic and less stream-of-consciousness. We’ll see!
