Denise and Monique
The one thing I flat out did not have the time to make this October. Until now.
I really felt like revisiting these two characters that I've drawn like 3 or 4 times.
But with all the things I wanted to make for Halloween this was the project I did not find time for.
And it's not so much the time but that it ended up being harder than I thought. I wanted to make a big detailed piece with these two, and I made a bunch of sketches but I wasn't able to find the idea right for that.
But I'm still on time where I live so I cleaned up two of my favorites and here they are.
These two were just a random idea I came up with while doing Inktober like 6 years ago I think.
I'm not sure if I named them before but now I've decided they're Denise the werewolf and Monique the witch.
I've never really had an actual story for them but a vibe. Basically Denise becomes a werewolf on day and meets Monique who then helps her learn how to live as a “monster” and then they fall in love or something
I don't think they're from the same universe as the rest of my characters as their thing works more like a nightmare before Christmas type of thing where there's the world of humans and the world of monsters. But still today I haven't put that much of a thought into it.
Also, as I mentioned before, I still don't think there're werewolves in Nicole's world. The logics of it still don't work for me but , hey, I used to think the same about vampires… kinda
As I said before, I don't remember if I've named Monique something else before but I'm 100% sure Denise has always been Denise. Because of the song.
Lobo hombre en Paris by La Union is a really cool song about a werewolf, or in this case more like a wolfman named Denise (or Dennis?) spending the night with a human woman who just so happens to be named Denise...Or Dennis (It sounds more like Denise but every translation I've seen puts it as Dennis).
To be honest the lyrics have always been a bit confusing to me in that regard but I still love the song. There's a feral wizard turning wolves into people and the song is basically in the set list of every cover band show in any Spanish speaking country.
I got a bunch more sketches of these two that I want to finish in some capacity eventually but for now here's these two to not miss on Halloween.
