Drawing the Anime Villain Style out of a Cockatoo - 'Rebel' Process Video and File!
Hey there! In this sped-up process video, I'll guide you through my latest illustration, "Rebel." This character draws inspiration from a cockatoo, known as "cacatua" in Spanish. The concept for this character evolved organically as I casually explored various platforms like Twitter and Pinterest. Whenever I stumble upon interesting or amusing pictures, I save them for future inspiration.
For "Rebel", I found a video featuring a white bird, similar to a cockatoo, with an "I don't give a fuck" vibe. I imagined the character as a mental institution patient, wearing a white uniform similar to a sinister mask like Hannibal Lecter's. The character's long nails, wild hair, and distinct features make it memorable, drawing inspiration from both reality and anime aesthetics.
I focused on simplicity to ensure the character's identity stands out. The process was relatively short as I felt satisfied with the clean line art and minimalistic approach. While I could have added more textures or details, I opted for a clean look to capture the essence of the character.
In the final piece, I replaced a "no stopping" sign with a police officer for added impact. This character adds depth to my portfolio, balancing darkness with humor and distinctiveness. I invite you to watch the full-length process video to delve deeper into the execution of this piece. Additionally, you can download the PSD file at the end of this post to explore the layers and filters applied.
